At its core, Anniyan is the story of Ramanujam "Ambi" Iyengar, played by Vikram in a career-defining role. Ambi is a quintessential perfectionist—a lawyer who is obsessed with rules and regulations. However, his inability to tolerate the corruption and negligence of society, coupled with personal rejection, triggers a psychological fracture. He manifests two alternate personalities: the suave, fashion-forward model Remo, and the terrifying vigilante Anniyan. The narrative follows Ambi’s struggle with his dissociative identity disorder while Anniyan dispenses brutal justice based on the punishments described in the Garuda Purana.
