TCL does not host a public portal for end-users to download stock firmware files (unlike Samsung or Xiaomi). However, updates are rolled out via OTA (Over-The-Air).

An examination of the TCL 30 SE’s firmware would be incomplete without addressing the pre-installed software environment. TCL’s firmware overlay, often called "TCL UI" (or a near-stock variant depending on the market), is generally lighter than competitors like Xiaomi’s MIUI. However, the firmware still contains carrier-specific bloatware and TCL’s own apps (such as the NXTVISION display engine).
