A skin (often called a UX or Data.zip modification) is a graphical user interface overlay. It changes the look, feel, and functionality of the navigation software. The default iGO Primo 2.4 interface is functional but dated. A custom skin can provide:
Buttons are cut off or overlapping. Solution: You have downloaded a skin for 960x540 or 1024x600. Verify the file name explicitly says 800x480 . Do not use "Auto-resize" skins on old WinCE.
| Feature | Status | Notes | |---------|--------|-------| | 2D/3D Map View | ✅ Excellent | Smooth rotation, 3D buildings | | Lane Assist | ✅ Good | Shows lanes at highway exits | | Speedcams | ✅ Great | Community-updatable .txt files | | TTS (Street names) | ✅ Yes | Requires voice files (e.g., "Vocalizer") | | Route Simulation | ✅ Yes | Useful for preview | | Multi-stop routes | ✅ Yes | Up to ~10 waypoints | | Live Weather/Traffic | ❌ No | Not natively supported | | Android Auto sync | ❌ No | Not applicable |
The community of skin developers for WinCE is shrinking. Most have moved to Android. However, because iGO Primo 2.4 was so stable, the existing skins (Dimka v3.4, Pongo v1.2) are "finished" – they have zero bugs and no planned updates, which is perfect for a set-it-and-forget-it device.
: Integrated speedcam alerts, junction views, and TTS (Text-to-Speech) guidance.
