The film takes place 10 years after the events of the second film. John Connor (Nick Stahl) is now 22 years old and living in a bunker with his mother, Kate Brewster (Claire Danes). However, they are soon hunted by a new, more advanced Terminator, the T-X (Kristy Swanson), while a reprogrammed T-850 (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is sent to protect them.
