The movie follows the story of Mary Elizabeth "Mary" Callahan (Jennifer Lopez), a successful and ambitious wedding planner in San Francisco. Her life is turned upside down when she meets a handsome and charming doctor, Alex O'Donnell (Matthew McConaughey), on the eve of his ex-fiancée's wedding. As fate would have it, Mary and Alex are forced to pretend to be a couple, which eventually leads to real feelings developing between them.
