Paula Peril Comics 19 Updated [exclusive] -

By cleaning up the plot through this update, DeSanto is effectively rebooting the continuity for new readers. Issue #20 (due later this year) will pick up directly from the updated ending of #19, ignoring the old cliffhanger entirely.

The "updated" color palette is noticeably warmer. The original issue used a lot of cool greens and blues (to signify the jungle and sadness). The 2024/2025 update shifts to deep purples and vibrant golds during the action sequences, creating a visual distinction between Paula’s internal despair and her external ferocity.

"Paula Peril is back and better than ever! In Comics #19, our fearless heroine takes on a new adventure that's packed with pulse-pounding action, sassy humor, and more than a few surprises. With her quick wit, sharp tongue, and killer instincts, Paula is the ultimate anti-heroine - and she's not afraid to take risks. Join the fun and join the peril with Paula Peril Comics #19 - updated and ready to thrill!"

One common critique: The lettering in the new pages uses a different digital font than the hand-lettered style of the original pages, creating a slight visual mismatch for eagle-eyed readers. Whiting has acknowledged this but deemed it an acceptable compromise for the expanded story.
