Sonic Mania Plus, the enhanced version of the 2017's Sonic Mania, has finally made its way to the Nintendo Switch, and I'm left wondering if this NSP (Nintendo Switch Package) update is truly worth the nostalgic dive. For the uninitiated, Sonic Mania is a throwback to the classic Sonic games of the 90s, with its fast-paced levels, catchy tunes, and (occasionally) maddening difficulty spikes.

Released as an expansion to the original 2017 hit, Sonic Mania Plus adds "Encore Mode," two new playable characters (Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel), and a four-player competition mode. For Switch users, having the is crucial because early versions of the game suffered from minor bugs and longer load times that were later addressed via official title updates.
